Researchers

Excellence in research is core to the mission of Université des Mascareignes. Our aim is to create an environment in which both disciplinary excellence and interdisciplinarity thrives. Interdisciplinary research conducted at our University aims to address the social, economic, technological, environmental and global challenges facing our country. Through collaboration at the intersection of disciplines, we aim to bring answers to complex questions of global significance. We conduct interdisciplinary research that drives innovation and benefits society and the economy. We engage in research areas which are in line with the economic development of the country and national priorities. Our research encompasses three main areas: Sustainable Development, Information Technology and Humanities and Social Sciences. Our research collaborations with the industry, government and international researchers enable access to leading research which can be directed to business-specific, country-specific and global challenges.
  • AKALOO Nundini

    Mrs. Nundini Akaloo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management at the Université des Mascareignes from the Faculty of Business Management. She has been working in the tertiary education sector at the Swami Dayanand Campus since 1995. She teaches many of the English Business Communications modules and the Workplace Ethics module too. She is a holder of a Master’s degree in Education Administration and Technology (with Distinction), a Post Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science with majors in Business Management, and a Diploma in Business Studies and Banking. She is a doctoral research student. She has been the founding Dean of its Faculty of Business and Management. She has a very keen interest in the academic quality assurance matters of the university. She is the Chairperson of the Quality and Standards Assurance Academic Subcommittee as Chairperson which has been responsible for the setting up of the academic procedures. At national level, she is the Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption Academic Forum which is under the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Mauritius. It has as objective to disseminate the cognizance of ethics among students in tertiary institutions. Her areas of research are education, ethics, ethical leadership, communication, quality, and business management. She is a member of the Mauritius Economic Society and is a Senator of the Junior Chamber International.
  • Beeharry Roodheer

    Senior lecturer/ Researcher in the Civil& Environmental Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering and Sustainable Development, Université des Mascareignes.   • Betchoo Nirmal Kumar

    Dr Nirmal Kumar Betchoo holds a DBA (Switzerland), an MBA (Scotland) as well as Graduate of the professional examinations of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Administrative Management (UK). He is the author of 12 books published nationally and internationally. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles in international refereed journals. He is external editor for the Journal of Mass Communications (USA) and the European Scientific Journal (ESJ). So far, he has reviewed some 150 papers. He presented research papers in conferences held in Mauritius and abroad particularly in London, Athens, Porto and Barcelona. He is subject specialist for the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) in Mauritius for post-graduate programmes in management. Dr Betchoo writes extensively for the local press where he has published lead papers out of some 150 articles he has published since 2012. His consultancy works include: Trainer for women entrepreneurs, Paper moderator for the University of Technology and the Mauritius Institute of Training and Development, Supervisor for Ph. D students along with his 33-year teaching experience out of which 24 have been devoted to teaching excellence at the tertiary level. In 2019, Dr Betchoo participated in the Biennial Commonwealth Conference (London) on natural risks and disasters.  A book chapter on this issue is awaited.  He worked with the Mauritius Research Council Panel on Innovation and Competitiveness Index, and edited a 5-year strategy with the Human Resource Development Council.  He published an article in the special edition of ‘Diplomacy and Beyond’ Journal (India) along with another one in the Mauritius Institute of Education Journal.  He is also Lead Guest Editor of Singapore Piscomed Business and Management Journal. He teams with a University of Mauritius panel on a TEC funded research on language translation in Kreol and English.
  • Bheekharry Normada

    Normada Bheekharry is Head of Department ( Management) for the Faculty of Business and Management. She has delivered modules in both management and marketing for past 13 years and has a keen interest in the study of integrating Information Technology and management/marketing Practices. Specialized in the field of Emarketing, Mrs Normada Bheekharry holds a Master in Business (Electronic Commerce/Marketing) from Victoria University, Melbourne Australia.
  • Boncoeur Pascal

    Specialized in Software Development, Mr. Pascal Boncoeur has an MSc from the University of Technology, Mauritius and a BSc in Electronics from the University of Pune, India. He worked at the Swami Dayanand Institute of Management for the Department of Information and Communication Technology, after which he joined the University of Seychelles, a recognized center for the Goldsmith Program from the University of London. He came back to Mauritius and joined the Université des Mascareignes and is a member of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. He is actually collaborating with the Center for Digital Humanities in various on-going projects.
  • Boodoo Zyaad

    Dr Zyaad Boodoo is a Lecturer in Multidisciplinary Fields at the <em>Université des Mascareignes</em> and a Researcher in the Environment, Climate Change and Sustainability spheres. He has an eclectic academic background ranging from environmental engineering and climate change management fields to sustainability transitions and international development. He graduated from a Bachelors in Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the <em>University of Mauritius</em> in 2001, completed a then-pioneer Master of Sciences in Carbon Management from a joint programme run by the <em>School of Geosciences</em> & <em>Business School</em> of the <em>University of Edinburgh</em> in 2009, and successfully defended a PhD in Sustainability Transitions from the <em>Technical University of Denmark</em> in 2018. He has a professional track record of over 18 years as an environment and climate change practitioner within the public sector in Mauritius. He has a wide hands-on experience in the design and coordination of implementation of environment, as well as climate change-specific mitigation and adaptation policies and strategies, projects and programmes, whether at the receiving end - as a practitioner - or upstream - within international development agencies via his working experience at the <em>United Nations Environment Program-Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (UNEP-DTU)</em> Partnership, a leading international research and advisory institution on energy, climate and sustainable development. He also has extensive working experiences in the implementation of donor projects in Mauritius focussing on Clean Development Mechanism projects under the Kyoto Protocol, Technology Needs Assessments, Global Fuel Economy Initiative, Greenhouse Gas Inventory Management Systems, Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions, Climate Change Adaptation, Biodiversity, amongst others. He has participated, made presentations, and acted as panellist in numerous national and international workshops, as well as being involved in the organisation of some of them. His teaching experiences include lectures on <em>Environment Technologies and Management Systems</em>.

    I have worked in industry before becoming a lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department. I have taught most core subjects in civil engineering. I have done my undergraduate and postgraduate at the University of Mauritius.
  • Cowlessur Sanjeev K

    My research interests are broadly in the area of Artificial Intelligence, more specifically Machine Learning, Data Mining, Big Data Analytics and their applications in solving real life problems. My current research involves analysis of healthcare data, deriving insights, predicting trends and outcomes, optimising resources, and providing recommendations. My teaching interests include cross platform mobile application development, discrete mathematics, linear algebra, automata and formal languages, numerical methods, Python programming. I am professional member of the British Computer Society (MBCS).

  • Darmanaden (Jessen) SOOBEN

    Dr. Sooben holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mauritius. He graduated with a ‘Diplôme d’études Supérieures Spécialisées’ in ‘Génie Mécanique et Productique’ from the Ecole Nationale d’Ingénieur de Metz, France. He also holds a specialisation in refrigeration and air conditioning from the Institut Français du Froid Industriel et du Génie Climatique de Paris, France. His Ph.D. from the University of Mauritius is in the field of Energy Engineering. Currently, his research focus is on the energy efficiency of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems with special emphasis on the use of carbon dioxide as refrigerant in SIDs
  • Dewdharee Rajkiran

    Mr. Rajkiran Dewdharee is a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering. He is currently teaching undergraduate courses mainly on Site Planning, Materials, Construction Drawings, Quantity surveying, Project management and Land Surveying. R. Dewdharee has a Master in Civil Engineering-Highway and Traffic Engineering from the Université Artois (France). Before joining the Université des Mascareignes, he worked for General Construction Company Ltd (Mauritius) and Eiffage-Pradeau Morin-(France). He is also an ex-student of UDM.
  • Doorga Jay Rovisham Singh

    Dr Doorga Jay Rovisham Singh holds an MSc (Distinction) from the University of Oxford in Environmental Change & Management, a PhD in Solar Energy Modelling & Forecasting, and a BSc (First Class) in Physics from the University of Mauritius. He has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the University of Oxford ECM Award (ranking first in Master’s dissertation at Oxford), Cambridge Outstanding Achievement Award (ranking first worldwide at Cambridge SC Exams), State of Mauritius Laureate Scholarship, and Gold Medalist of the University of Mauritius. He has previously worked at the Mauritius Oceanography Institute and led the construction of an innovative wave energy prototype (Patented under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Prior to joining the Université des Mascareignes as Lecturer, he was employed by the University of Oxford to work on a research project regarding renewable energy investments in Africa (Research paper under publication).
  • Dr Chinnappa Naidu Rani

    Dr. Rani Chinnappa Naidu received B.E. in Electrical Engineering and M.Tech in Power Systems both from the VIT University, India and received her Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, in 2014.  She has joined as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Northumbria Photovoltaic Applications Centre at the Northumbria University, United Kingdom for a research project on the Stability and Performance of Photovoltaic (STAPP), which involves Eight Universities from UK and India. She received a grant from the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering, UK for her collaborative research project between India and UK for the duration of 3 years (2021 to 2023). Dr. Rani is presently a Visiting Research Fellow at Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland.  She has over 2 years of Industry and 20 years of experience in teaching, training, and leading high caliber research in Artificial Intelligence and application of optimization techniques in Solar Photovoltaic systems, Wind energy conversion, power generation dispatch, Biomedical and healthcare Industries.  At present, she is working as an Associate Professor at Universite des Mascareignes, Mauritius and at VIT University, India (sabbatical). She has published an appreciable number of research papers in IEEE Transactions, IET journals, Elsevier journals, Springer proceedings, IEEE conferences and many book chapters. Dr. Rani has been invited and served as an external examiner for many Ph.D. theses from UK, India, Mauritius and France. She has also conducted many conferences and symposiums at international level as an organizing chair. She has edited two book volumes titled Soft Computing for Problem Solving published by Springer Nature and she is a Senior Member in IEEE.
  • Dr Muthu Rajesh Kumar

    Rajesh Kumar Muthu received the B.E. degree in electronics and communication engineering from the University of Madras, Chennai, India, in 2000, the M.E. degree in electrical drives and embedded control from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai, in 2005, and the M.B.A. degree in systems from Alagappa University, Karaikudi, India, in 2008. He received the Research Scholarships Award for his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, from 2010 to 2013. In early 2015, he was a Senior Research Assistant with the Department of Mathematics and Information Science, Northumbria University, U.K. He received grants from e-COST, VIT University SEED, Royal Academy of Engineering, U.K. He is a visiting Research Fellow at Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow, Scotland. Since 2000, he has been in teaching and research in India (2000-2010, 2015-2021), United Kingdom (2010-2015), and Mauritius (2022- Present). At present, he is working as an Associate Professor at Universite Des Mascareignes, Mauritius, and at Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India. He has published appreciable number of papers in refereed international journals, IEEE conferences, book chapters and edited a book in IGI Global, Qatar University Press, CRC Press. His research group includes speech signal processing, biomedical signal processing, medical image processing, data analytics, healthcare application, pattern recognition, machine intelligence, and optimization technique. He is a Chartered Engineer of IET, U.K., and Senior Member, IEEE.
  • Dr. Amic Seeven

    Conducting active research in the general umbrella field of cybersecurity, Amic specializes in the security provided by cryptographic primitives, algorithms and schemes. He has a keen interest in cryptanalysis and design of cryptographic algorithms and their applications, namely, IoT, blockchain, data and communications security. Amic experiments with new techniques of cryptanalysis including machine learning and deep learning.
  • Dr. GALAMALI Mohammad Kaleem

    Dr. Mohammad Kaleem Galamali holds a PhD from University of Technology Mauritius (UTM) since April 2022. Associate Professor Dr Nawaz Mohamudally and Professor Nimal Nissanke were his supervisors. Dr Galamali works as senior lecturer in ICT at Université Des Mascareignes (UDM) Swami Dayanand Campus, Beau Plan. Dr Galamali has been involved in teaching of Operating Systems, Networking, Digital Logic, ICT Fundamentals, Statistics, Business Information Systems and Ethics in ICT. Dr. Galamali is an academic researcher in theoretical perspectives in pervasive computing, e-learning and ethical/visionary perspectives in ICT.
  • Dr. Khoodeeram Rajeev

    Dr Rajeev Khoodeeram is a Senior Lecturer and holds a PhD in Computer science with specialisation in Bioinformatics, Université Côte D’Azur, France. His first degree is a B.Eng in Computer Science and Engineering  followed by an MSc in Information and Communication Technologies. His research interests are in Bioinformatics, Data science and Internet of Things (including Artificial Intelligence). Founder of the Emerging Technologies department, Dr Khoodeeram is also responsible for the creation of a research laboratory working at the forefront of Data science, Internet of Things, Autonomous systems and Biomedical engineering. He has intervened in several modules in Master Artificial Intelligence and Robotics including Machine learning, Deep learning and AI Programming. He also shows interest in IoT using mobile applications and intelligent systems (taught both at degree and Master levels). Currently, he is the Head of the Bel Air campus and leading the Emerging Technologies department<strong>.</strong>
  • Dr. Ladkoo Vandita

    Dr. Vandita Ladkoo is a Gold-medallist from Nagpur University India for her Master Degree in Mass-communication. She holds a PhD in Communication and Body Language from Pune University, India. Her thesis focuses on Body language in an international context. Her researches unfold from Cultural Communication to International Communication whereby she masters the field of Body Language and relationship management in all aspects.
  • Dreepaul Raj Kumar

    Dr Raj Dreepaul holds a PhD from the Universite des Mascareignes (UDM), an MPhil from the University of Mauritius, a BSc in Occupational Safety and Health from NEBOSH (UK) and a B.Tech(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mauritius. Dr Dreepaul has been actively working on several research projects involving alternative Refrigerants in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) Sector in Mauritius. His work has focused on optimizing the efficiency of RAC equipment by using alternative refrigerants and reducing the carbon footprint in the sector. His work has also laid emphasis on the safety aspects of natural refrigerants such as ammonia, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons. His work has led to several publications in the field. <strong>Research Interests:</strong> <ol> <li>Phase out of Halogenated Refrigerants in the RAC sector in Mauritius.</li> <li>Managing Carbon footprint in the RAC sector.</li> <li>Risk Assessment and safrty Hazards of Natural refrigerants.</li> <li>Optimising Safety in the Workplace.</li> </ol>
  • Fareed Rubina Sheik

    Holder of a Master 2 in Droit International et Comparé de l’Environnement (MPhil in International and Comparative Environmental Law) from the University of Limoges (France), Ms. Rubina Sheik FAREED doctoral research focuses on the legal and environmental governance frameworks of menstrual waste management in a circular economy. Before joining the Université des Mascareignes, she worked for Tertiary Education Commission in Mauritius and PricewaterhouseCoopers in London.
  • Goodary Rajeshwar

    Specialized in Ground Improvement techniques, Dr Rajeshwar Goodary holds a PhD in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering. Before joining UdM, Dr Goodary was employed as Consulting Civil and Structural Engineer at ‘Servansingh Jadav and Partners Consulting Engineers Ltd, Mauritius’. Currently he is actively engaged in research in the field of ground improvement and related topics with numerous research papers published in international journals and indexed conference proceedings. Dr Goodary has published jointly with over 20 co-authors worldwide and holds several collaborations with international universities and researchers. He is regularly invited by neighbouring universities to lecture Geotechnics in the region and also serves as Scientific Committee Member to several international conferences besides being permanent reviewer for several high-impact factor journals and conferences, likewise ‘Construction and Building Materials (Elsevier)’, ‘Environmental Geotechnics’, ‘International Conference in Geotechnical Research and Engineering’, among others. Being specialized in the field of soil mechanics, Dr Goodary is extensively involved in consultancy works, undertaken by UdM for the private sector and having served as Head of the Civil and Environmental Department and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Sustainable Development formerly, he is currently the Founding Dean and Head of the Geotechnical Laboratory where he provides guidance and supervises PhD students.
  • Greedharry Kamlesh

    Mr. Kamlesh Greedharry has served in the public sector in various capacities for more than 17 years prior joining academia to share his rich industry experience in teaching and research. Currently, he is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK) and Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Mauritius He has a MSc in Building Services Engineering and a B.Eng.(Hons) Civil Engineering from the University of Mauritius. He was involved in the testing and commissioning of the Electro-Mechanical parts and conducted calibration test at the Midlands Dam. He is well versed in contract administration, project management, planning, bid evaluation, design of building, roads and drain projects for public bodies. Mr. Kamlesh Greedharry has intensively contributed in the reform of the education system during the construction of new school buildings and also created a building maintenance management system for the effective and efficient operation of school building maintenance. Additionally, he set up the building infrastructure for a Special Education Needs Resource Centre and led a team for the digitalization of primary school classrooms.
  • Hosenkhan Mohammad Reza

    He holds a Master Degree in Systems Engineering from the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute, USSR. He holds the academic position of senior lecturer in the Department of Software Engineering in the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at the Université des Mascareignes. He has been turn in turn the Head of Department of Software Engineering, then the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. Currently he is the Officer-in-Charge of the Swami Dayanand Campus of the Université des Mascareignes.
  • HURRYMUN Swatuntratanand (Raj)

    Banking and Finance Specialist. Mr S. Hurrymun has a professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Bankers (London ) and is an Associate of the Institute and holds an MBA. He has worked for 8 years in the banking industry and was Finance and Administrative Manager in a private firm. His field of interest is in looking at Commercial Banks’ performance.
  • Jackaria Nazneen

    Specialist in management, Mrs Nazneen Jackaria has an MSc in Management from University of Surrey (UK) and a BA (Hons) Accountancy from London Guildhall University (UK). Before joining the Université des Mascareignes, she worked as an Accounts teacher at Loreto Convent College, Port-Louis, Mauritius. Mrs Nazneen Jackaria research interest is multi- disciplinary and has researched on religion, consumer behavior and marketing.
  • Jhurkut Narendra Sharma

    Specializes in the teaching of Accounting & Finance Has an MSc in Finance, Bsc in Accounting and Diploma in management from the University of Mauritius. Before joining the Université des Mascareignes, he worked as Educator ‘A’ Ministry of Education and Science in Mauritius. Studying how financial reporting should incorporate environment related issues and community involvement to Reconciling business and environmental interests. The<strong> triple bottom line principle</strong> entails reporting of not only the economic performance of companies but also the environmental and social performance of businesses The<strong> triple bottom line principle</strong> -Profit, Planet and People that is taking into consideration the economic, environmental and social dimension.
  • Jugmohun Arvin

    Mr Arvin Jugmohun is holder of a Bsc(Hons) Management studies and a Master in Business Administration. For the last 22 years, he has been serving as academic in Accounting, Finance and Management at Universite des Mascareignes. Previously, he was Manager at Coopers and Lybrand responsible for training professional staff in Accountancy. He has also worked at De Chazal du Mee in Accounting, Auditing and Consultancy fields and was responsible for training Managers and Directors of World Bank financed projects in Africa.
  • Khodabocus Mohammad Irshad

    Dr Khodabocus Mohammad Irshad is a Researcher in Pure Mathematics – Topology and a Lecturer-Researcher in Mechanical Engineering – Fluid Mechanics at Université des Mascareignes. He holds a “Brevet de Technicien (BT) – Mécanique Automobile” (Technical Diploma in the French System in Automotive Mechanics) from Lycée Polytechnique Sir Guy Forget (Mauritius), a “Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) – Mécanique Automobile” (Higher Technical Diploma in the French System in Automotive Mechanics) from Lycée Condorcet (France), a “Diplôme d'Études Universitaires Générales (DEUG) – Mathématiques et Applications” (General Academic Studies Degree in the French System in Mathematics and Applications), a “Licence (Bac+3) – Mathématiques et Applications” (Bachelor's Degree in the French System in Mathematics and Applications), a “Maîtrise (BAC+4) – Mécanique” (Master's Degree in the French System in Mechanics), and a “Diplôme d'Études Approfondies (DEA) – Dynamique des Fluides” (Master's Degree by Research in the French System in Fluid Dynamics), all from University Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier (France); a “PhD Mechanical Engineering Degree” with specialization in Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Simulation of Droplets Dynamics from University of Canterbury (New Zealand), and a “PhD Pure Mathematics Degree” with specialization in Generalized Topology from University of Mauritius (Mauritius). His past research in Mechanical Engineering involves Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Simulation of Fluid Flow Dynamics in confined and unconfined systems, and his recent research in Pure Mathematics involves study of generalized properties in Topology, Topological Groups and Algebraic Topology. In Pure Mathematics, he is known for his work on Generalized Topological Spaces and, in Mechanical Engineering, he is known for his work on Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Simulation of Self- Propelling, Coalescing droplet Dynamics in small scale confined and unconfined systems. His teaching experience includes courses taught across a broad range of subjects within Mathematics (Mathematical Analysis, Mathematical Modelling and Computation) and Mechanical Engineering (Computational and Applied Mechanical Analysis, Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Automotive Engineering).

As a Service Desk Specialist, he ensured good customer service relationship for client mobile fleet in France in accordance with the company’s procedures and with a constant concern for customer satisfaction. He was ranked 2nd out of 28 candidates in his Master degree. His first year project was to design a practical work on HV electricity network. He was honoured for the oral presentation & was recommended both by the Director of Ampere Laboratory in Lyon & by his project’s supervisor for a Ph.D. He studied different fault detection methods and their origins in an induction motor. Using diagnostic methods like the FFT, he detected and analysed various faults like mechanical, bearing and electrical, for an asynchronous motor. He also studied pattern recognition for possible diagnostic methods and detected specific fault by the extraction of vector parameters and visualisation of different classes during data acquisition. He used AI algorithms like particle swarm optimisation & artificial fish swarm algorithm to optimise data obtained from different fault detections until the best fit solution was identified. <strong>Teaching</strong> Mr Khodabux’s teaching concerns mainly: Analog & Digital Modulation, Wireless & Mobile Communications, Basic electronic functions and their components, Linear circuits and components, Power Electronics, Introduction to wave propagation, Automation and SCADA. <strong>Training</strong> After joining the UDM as Lecturer, he followed a Programme on Skill Development in Electronics for TVET in Chennai (India), which aimed at providing practical skills and theoretical knowledge in modern electronic system like the use of PLC for electrical control applications and the utilisation of graphical programming tool LABVIEW for solving industrial instrumentation.

    Bushra Khoyratty is Head of Software Engineering Department for the Faculty of Information Communication Technology. She has a special liking for delivering programming modules like object oriented Programming in Java,php,C++ and python. She also delivers module like Software Quality Assurance and Probability and statistics. She has a keen interest in the study of how to make students learn programming faster and to choose the right pedagogical approach . She holds a Master in Project Management from the University Of Mauritius.
  • Latchoomun Lekhramsingh

    Dr. Latchoomun holds a PhD from the University of Mauritius in the field of Water Systems Control Engineering and an MSc. in Information Technology from the same university. His research interest lies mainly in the area of control engineering applied to energy efficiency of electromechanical systems. Currently, he is involved in three main projects namely obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), optimization of renewable energies and the sustainable smart campus.

    Having a sound graphical, multimedia and mostly IT background, Mrs Shameera Lauthan has a MA in Business Administration with specialisation in IT from the University of Amity, India and a B. Eng in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Mauritius. Mrs Shameera Lauthan is currently engaged in the research field of ICT and Health Education exploring the Emerging trends of multimedia-based learning at primary schools. A major component of Mrs. Shameera Lauthan professional practice includes information literacy instruction whether delivered through formal or informal means, in the classroom or online. Hence connecting new knowledge to prior knowledge.
  • Luckputtya Ajay

    Ajay Luckputtya has a Bachelor in Business Science, BBusSc(Hons) in Business Finance from the University of Cape Town, Republic of South Africa. He also holds an MSc in Applied Economics with Specialisation in Banking and Finance from the University of Mauritius. Before joining the Université des Mascareignes, he worked for the State Bank Group (Mauritius) for almost 8 years. During early years, he had exposure to retail banking and the international division. He later joined a subsidiary in the banking group, as head of the share registry. Afterwards he was appointed as Stockbroker/Financial Analyst in the group stockbroking company. Ajay Luckputtya teaches in the Department of Banking and Finance as lecturer in Banking & Financial Services.   • Mawooa Deoduth

    I was awarded an upper second class B.Eng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mauritius. As former Head of GEMA department, I was responsible for the setting up of new programs such as the DUST,LT/BSc(Hons) in Electomechanical Engineering, LP/BSc(Hons) GMIHI, BEng(Hons) Mechanical Engineering(minor energy system) CRPE approved and the first Master en Maintenance des systèmes Industriels in collaboration with the Université de Limoges. Before joining the Université des Mascareignes, he worked as Lecturer for the Institut Supérieur de Technologie (May 2001-2012); Trainee Mechanical Engineer at the Central Water Authority (1999- April 2001); Industrial Maintenance and M&E design Engineer at the Socota Textile Mills ltd (1998-1999); Sales & Technical Engineer at Krane Trading & Protector training services ltd (Aug 1997-Dec 1997) and finally as Customer care supervisor at Bowman International ltd (May 1997-July 1997). I am a certified MQA trainer and has also collaborated with the central procurement board, Mauritius on various projects as Bid Evaluators. Moreover, I was a Reviewer for the Mauritius Research council on the Collaborative Research and Innovation Grant Scheme (CRIGS) projects. My recent research interest is to investigate solar cooling as a means to optimize the energy efficiency of compressed air systems in the Mauritian manufacturing Industries.

  • Mohajeer Akrish

    Akrish is a lecturer in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at UDM.  He holds a Master degree in electronics and microelectronics circuit integration, from University Toulouse III/ENSEEIHT, and a Master degree in Management for Technological Projects from University Toulouse II. Before joining UDM, he has mainly worked in the aerospace sector, at EREMS, the aeronautics sector, at AIRBUS (Altran SO) and Air Mauritius, and for the Traffic Management and Road Safety Unit.
  • Mudhawo Abdel Isker

    Specialist in Structural Design and Project Management, Mr Mudhawo is actually Senior Lecturer/ Researcher in the Department of Civil Engineering and Environment. He has a B.Eng. (Hons.) Civil Engineering and an MSc Project Management. Before joining Université des Mascareignes, Mr Mudhawo was the Head of Engineering Department of KALIS group, leading several construction projects. He has followed trainings in Civil Engineering pedagogies at IUT du Limousin, Université des Limoges. He has been awarded a certificate for the international course on GIS (Geographical Information System) at NITTTR, Chennai, India. He was a former Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the UdM and also shoulder the post of Course Coordinator for the B. Eng. Civil Engineering Part Time cohort. Actually a PhD scholar, Mr Mudhawo is engaged in lecturing Structural Analysis, Structural Design, Project Management and Civil Engineering Softwares.

    Roshan Oodally is a Senior Lecturer at the Université des Mascareignes, Mauritius. He is also currently the Head of the Banking & Finance Department. He holds a Masters in International Trade & Business from the University of Mauritius and a Masters in Information Systems from the University of Technology, Mauritius. His doctoral thesis was entitled “Managerial Leadership Styles, Organisational Culture, and Job Satisfaction: Empirical Evidence from Université Des Mascareignes”. He has participated in conferences and have published research papers.
  • Peeroo Swaleha

    Swaleha Peeroo is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Management at the Université des Mascareignes, Mauritius. She is also the Head of the Doctoral School. She holds a Maitrise Administration Economique et Sociale mention Administration et Gestion des Entreprises from the Université des Sciences Sociales, Toulouse, France and a PhD from the Leeds Beckett University, Leeds, United Kingdom. Her PhD thesis focuses on the use of social media within the retail sector. She has several conference papers and has published papers in the ABS and ABDC ranked journal: The International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management and the Journal of Marketing Communications. She has also contributed a chapter in the ‘Digital Social Responsibility’ book edited by leading academics at the University of Cardiff, United Kingdom. She was awarded the ‘Best paper in retail marketing track’ at the Academy of Marketing Conference 2014, Bournemouth, United Kingdom. She is also a reviewer for the Social Responsibility Journal and the International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management.
  • Pirbhai-Jetha Neelam

    The main interests of Dr. Neelam Pirbhai-Jetha, lie in Mauritian literature. She has participated in conferences organised by Aberystwyth University, the University of Delhi and Bourgogne Franche-Comté University among others. She embarked on research in digital humanities and recently participated in an international conference organised by AUPTIC 2019 (Switzerland), University of Western Australia and an international seminar organised by Sorbonne Universités, the University of Mauritius and l’institut Français de Maurice.
  • Ramlogun Roshan

    Mr Roshan Ramlogun initially graduated with a BTech(hons) in Civil Civil Engineering from the University of Mauritius. He worked in industry for some time and then joined as Trainer of Technicians at the Lycée Polytechnique Sir Guy Forget. He followed several trainings in France at the ENS Cachan, Paris and Université de Limoges (UL), France in the field of Education, Pedagogy, Didactics and Technology. He joined the Institut Supérieur de Technologie as Lecturer for the training of Advanced Technicians and then completed his Master in "Inspection, Maintenance et Réparation des Ouvrages d'Art" from UL, France where he worked on a research project on the use of NDT. Mr Roshan Ramlogun then joined the Université des Mascareignes where he was promoted to Senior Lecturer. He worked on several research projects and also shouldered several responsibilities like Course Coordinator, Head of Department, Program Coordinator and Social Media Admin.
  • Ramlowat Dosheela

    Mrs. Dosheela Ramlowat has an MSc. in Computer Science from the University of Mauritius. She has seventeen (17) years of experience in the field of software engineering as an academic. From 2012 to 2014, she served as Head of Software Engineering Department at the Université des Mascareignes(UdM). Prior to joining the UdM, she worked as an analyst/programmer and web developer in two start-up companies. Her research interests span the fields of ICT, more specifically Internet of Things (IoT), education and entrepreneurship.
  • Ramsurrun Veekash

    Mr V. Ramsurrun is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance and has worked for the Universite des Mascareignes (formerly Swami Dayanand Institute of Management) since 1996. Mr V. Ramsurrun is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountant (FCCA), and holds an MBA with specialisation in Finance and Investment. He is also a member of the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA). Mr V. Ramsurrun lectures in various modules including Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Reporting, Taxation and Portfolio Management. Prior to joining the university, Mr Ramsurrun has worked for some of the major Accounting firms, namely Coopers and Lybrand and KPMG. He has gained a wide range of experience in accounting, auditing and taxation across various sectors of the Mauritian economy.
  • Roopchund Randhir

    Dr. Randhir Roopchund has a Doctorate in Business Administration from the Open University of Mauritius. His doctoral thesis was entitled ‘Towards a Conceptual Framework for Public Universities in Mauritius’. He has published more than 20 research papers in ABS and ABDC Ranked and Scopus indexed journals. He is a reviewer for International Journal of Global Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Isssues (Q1 Scimago), International Journal of Management in Education and Tertiary Education Commission Conference. He is also part of the Editorial Board of International Journal of Management, Economics and Social Sciences(ABS ranked UK) and International Journal of Technoentrepreneurship(Scopus and ABDC Listed). He won the Best Paper award for the Educational Track at Nanyang Technological University(Singapore) in 2016.
